My Background in Education

 Hello there!

I have worked in education for about 12 years. I started as an Early Childhood Educator with young children, then moved on to working with elementary and high school students as an Education Assistant at the VSB, and now I am teaching adults. I currently teach in the Front End Development program at BCIT. Over the years, you would also find me teaching French to all ages.

I want to obtain the PIDP so I can pursue education in my field (web development as well as French Teaching), as well as in other topics that I have a strong interest in and I want to become a better teacher.

I have too many hobbies and not enough time to do them all, but if I were to list the most important ones, they would be: hiking with my dog and husband, quilling, flamenco, playing music, and learning languages. I am fluent in French, Spanish, and English, and I am currently learning German on Duolingo. I have also learned some Portuguese and Italian in the past. It is fun to learn new languages!

AI in Education: More Than Just a Trend?

  It’s a no-brainer that the biggest trend everywhere in our personal, professional, and educational life is Artificial Intelligence. And recently, even when we Google something, there is an AI overview! We really can’t avoid it. As a result, AI is rapidly entering classrooms, offering both opportunities and challenges for educators.  According to a recent survey by Clever as stated in this article , it says that 85% of teachers think AI will affect education a lot. But almost half (49%) worry it will make their jobs harder. Also, 96% of teachers say they haven’t had training on how to use AI in their work (Ascione, 2023). This makes me wonder: How can teachers like me keep up with these changes? AI can help with simple tasks and make learning better, but it cannot do everything teachers do, like building relationships, understanding students, and helping them think critically.
